Letter of Intent sample

My client, with whom I’ve frequently collaborated, was applying for the position of Associate Director: Experiential Education and Social Impact at Morehouse College

Dear <<Name Removed>>:

Because of the deep respect your institution has earned among black educators and administrators, I was excited to find an opening on your HR website that suits my strengths and ambitions so perfectly. I would like to explain my qualifications for the position of Associate Director of Experiential Education and Social Impact at Morehouse College’s Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership [AYCGL]. I believe I can prove to be a true asset to your team.

While the laudable global reputations of both Morehouse College and the AYCGL originally drew my attention to this opening, I was immediately struck by how well my experience and qualifications align with the position’s demands. Having previously initiated and designed new student programs and curricula at both the high school and college level (as my CV explains in detail), I understand the demanding, collaborative nature of this position. My proven capacity to forge fruitful relationships between faculty and administration will benefit AYCGL as it has my previous institutions. Fostering this kind of institutional integration expands student opportunities across all programs, departments, and communities.

I’m also particularly drawn toward establishing scholarship programs. My previous work with the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Scholarship Program as well as the EAGLE program at George Piedmont demonstrate the importance I place upon amplifying and rewarding student excellence as well as opening new avenues for their success.

As my professional references will assure you, I am committed to meaningful, engaging, empowering student experiences that generate real and tangible rewards for the individual, the school, and our community. I recognize that experiential learning allows students not only to apply, but also to recognize and value their strengths while absorbing deep lessons that educators struggle to convey as powerfully in the classroom. As such, a robust set of diverse opportunities and scholarships is paramount. Effectively initiating and directing these programs ensures that Morehouse College students are offered an exceptional, well-rounded, purposeful array of experiences, and I would greatly appreciate being an asset of that mission.

It would be a true honor to work within the AYCGL, an esteemed organization whose mission, initiatives, and trailblazing programs genuinely inspire and excite me. Contributing to the center’s future success and working under such accomplished leadership would be a privilege.

Please contact me if you have any questions about my enclosed application materials. I am eager to discuss the position and my qualifications with you and your colleagues.

Sincerely,
